GETTING STARTED
BEFORE YOUR FIRST APPOINTMENT
After scheduling, you need to fill out all the necessary forms. To do this you will follow the link in the email I will send you to set up your Sessions Health Client Portal.
Once logged in, be sure to save your login info and bookmark the link to the login page (above). The system is super easy and will walk you through each step. It is important that you log in and fill out forms before your first appointment so I have your background in and you have signed the Explanation of Services and Informed Consent form. Please read this form carefully as it contains the important stuff you need to know in agreeing to work with me. YOU ONLY NEED TO DO THIS FOR YOUR FIRST APPOINTMENT.
**I am no longer accepting any insurances. Please let me know if you would like to file with your insurance provider for out-of-network reimbursement and I will provide you with a “superbill” with all the info they will require from you.
I encourage you to bookmark the portal link above for future use as you will use it to manage appointments, billing, send confidential email, and join me for video sessions.
A NOTE REGARDING INSURANCE: Many clients choose to pay for counseling services themselves instead of using health insurance. There are several benefits to the self-pay option. If you choose to utilize your insurance benefits, you should know that in order for your counseling sessions to be covered by the insurance provider, you must be given a mental health diagnosis. This diagnosis becomes a permanent part of your medical records, which may affect future ratings on health and life insurance premiums (Though I hear this is changing). Also, insurance companies do periodically request client files for review, which means your personal information/ session notes have to be shared. With the private pay option, you can receive counseling without a diagnosis, your confidentiality is ensured, and information about your treatment will not be disclosed to a third party. You will also have the freedom to decide on the appropriate length of treatment for yourself vs having the insurance company limit your number of visits.
